Airtel Cuts 3G Tariff By 70%

India's largest operator, Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Mumbai: BHARTIARTL) has finally decided to lead the market by dropping the prices for 3G services today by as much as 70 percent.


Indian operators have been struggling to increase the uptake of 3G services for quiet some time but without much success.


Recently, Idea Cellular Ltd. had increased the prices of its 2G postpaid services. An increase in 2G prices and a drop in 3G prices will bring both the technologies at almost the same level. This will definitely help increase the uptake of 3G services in the country.


Operators have spent a considerable amount in the purchase as well as the rollout of 3G services, and it is critical for them that the services are adopted by the masses.
